Mary Cholmondeley (1859-1925), a novelist, wrote 3 of these 4 letters to John Campbell Hamilton-Gordon, Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair (1847-1934) or his wife, Ishbel Gordon, Marchioness of Aberdeen and Temair (1857-1939), to arrange luncheon meetings and to offer signed copies of her books to be sent to Aberdeen. The 4th letter is addressed to Nellie, whom she agrees to meet for tea.
